House Bill 5

Our Progress

House Bill 5 (HB5) requires districts to create a rating system to measure community and student engagement on 9 indicators: Fine Arts, Wellness & Physical Education, Parent & Community Involvement, 21st Century Workforce, Second Language Acquisition, Digital Learning Environment, Gifted & Talented, Dropout Prevention & Compliance (district rating only).

To address this HB5 requirement, District Advisory Team (DAT) members and additional community members joined one of nine subcommittees to develop a rubric for each of the indicators. Campus Advisory Teams (CAT) and District leaders collaborated on rating each campus using the required rating categories of Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, and Unacceptable. An average of campus scores was used to rate the District.
