Covid Rapid Testing

In Del Valle ISD, we remain committed to doing all we can to keep staff and students healthy and safe. During the 2022-2023 school year, DVISD will continue to offer rapid COVID-19 tests for students and staff. This program allows DVISD to test individuals and reduce the risk to our community.

At this time, testing is available only to students or staff who are symptomatic. Other testing sites can be located at: https://www.austintexas.gov/covid-testinfo

You may also test with your medical provider, select CVS and Walgreens and Curative- https://curative.com/

Students/Staff are not required to retest before returning to school/work.

*PLEASE NOTE: Rapid Tests are available in the nurse's office at all DVISD schools for staff and students who display symptoms during the school day.

Parent permission is required for students under 18 to receive a test. Only one consent form is required for the entire school year, however; parents will be called anytime a test is recommended for their child.

If being tested at the  Opportunity Building, all tests are administered in your car. Please call 512-386-3339 when you arrive. Please do not enter any district building if you are symptomatic.

What tests are used in this program?

  • This program uses GenBody Covid-19 tests, which provide results in 15 minutes and are administered using a nasal swab in the front area of the nostril. These tests have been shown to be highly accurate for symptomatic individuals.

How will the information from the tests be used?

  • Individuals receive a letter with results upon being tested. The results will also be shared with the school/district and with the state and local health departments to allow for public health reporting and contact tracing and to determine the stay-at-home period for individuals who test positive.
