Visual Art Vision

DVISD Visual Art is  a safe space to explore, experiment and integrate a creative mindset to foster a lifelong appreciation of art.  We think like artists.

Visual Art is offered on every campus in Del Valle ISD. Classes are offered for Kindergarten through 12th grade students and curriculum is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

The visual arts engage and motivate all students through active learning, critical thinking, and innovative problem solving. The fine arts develop cognitive functioning and increase student academic achievement, higher-order thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, making the fine arts applicable to college readiness, career opportunities, workplace environments, social skills, and everyday life. Students develop aesthetic and cultural awareness through exploration, leading to creative expression. Creativity, encouraged through the study of the fine arts, is essential to nurture and develop the whole child. As part of the class curriculum, students exhibit their artwork both in class and in campus art shows. Campuses also provide after school, visual art enrichment opportunities, please see the LEAD After school Program page for more information.
