Board of Trustees adopt 2023-2024 Academic Calendar

The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees adopted the Academic Calendar for the 2023-2024 School Year at their February 21 meeting. Calendar Option A was selected. A PDF of the calendar is below.

The majority of parents and teachers selected this option on the feedback survey. 

2023-2024 Calendar Highlights

First day of school: August 9, 2023

Professional development week (No school for students): October 16-20

Winter Break: December 23 - January 8

Professional development days (No school for students): February 16 & 19, 2024

Spring Break: March 11-15, 2024

Last day of school: Thursday, May 23, 2024

 

Early Release Day

More than 90% of responses to the calendar survey selected Friday to remain as the district’s early release day.

 

School Hours for 2023-2024

In an effort to be proactive and build in time that minimizes the need for bad weather makeup days during next school year, the elementary school day will be extended by five minutes. All middle and high school times will remain the same. 

Please note: Bus routes will be released in August prior to the start of school.

Elementary school regular day: 7:30 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.

Elementary school Friday release: 7:30 a.m. - 1:50 p.m.

Elementary school half day: 7:30 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.

 

Middle school regular day: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Middle school Friday release: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Middle school half day: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

 

High school/OC regular day: 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

High school/OC Friday release: 8:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

High school/OC half day: 8:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
