10 DVISD schools earn ‘No Place For Hate’ designation for 2023-24 school year
A total of 10 Del Valle ISD schools earned the “No Place For Hate” campus designation for the 2023-2024 school year.
The designation acknowledges the work of campuses that facilitate student-led schoolwide activities, focusing on recognizing the value of a diverse community, how identity shapes one’s worldview, and how to identify and confront bias within the school community.
School social workers supported the programming at each campus, but the overall program and activities were student-led. Collaboration between students, social workers, teachers, and administrators allows all those involved in the school community to connect meaningfully and create a campus climate that amplifies student voices and proactively addresses bias and bullying incidents.
Students and all those involved who participated on their respective campuses were recognized at the Aug. 20 Board of Trustees Regular Meeting.
“We are honored to recognize the accomplishment of our social work team, campus administrators and the students of the campus for their dedication to cultivate student leadership, unite the school community and engage students and staff in active learning,” the Director of Student and Family Support, Vicky Esparza-Gregory, wrote in the Board action item for the recognition.
The ten schools that earned the designation will receive a “No Place For Hate” banner to display on their camps. Those who were recognized for the 2023-2024 school year include:
- Del Valle High School
- Del Valle Middle School
