Made in DV, Alumni Spotlight : Welcome Back, Jessica Suarez Ruiz!

From sitting in a Del Valle High School classroom to running her own, DVHS alum Jessica Suarez Ruiz (Class of '19) has officially come full circle, returning to her alma mater as our newest Hospitality teacher.

After graduating from DVHS, Suarez earned her degree at Texas State University. She credits her time in Del Valle’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program with giving her a head start in college, helping her comfortably navigate higher education and pursue her passion for hospitality management.

During her final semester at Texas State in Spring 2024, Suarez reconnected with her former high school hospitality teacher, Ms. Jenkins, to complete her student teaching right here at home. Now, as we kick off the 2026–2027 school year, Suarez is stepping into her very own classroom for the first time.

When asked what brought her back to DV, Jessica shared that she was inspired by the incredible opportunities the district continues to create for its students. As an educator, she hopes to help the next generation of Cardinals discover their passions and achieve their own definitions of success.
