DVISD Education Foundation awards more than $14,000 in grants to educators

The DVISD Education Foundation surprised five teachers with grants on Friday, totaling $14,175 for projects that complement the district's innovative curriculum. DVISD administrators and Education Foundation members traveled across the district, surprising the five winners with cheers, hugs, and a lively parade down the halls of schools.
Winners and their projects include:
- Mary Hopkins at DVMS with her annual Battle of the Books competition between all three middle schools
- Bedelia Salinas from DVE with her project "Communication and Inclusivity for All"
- Marianne Alves from DVE for nature explorer backpacks
- Savanna Walker at Hornsby-Dunlap ES for her project to energize reluctant readers
- Amy Gonzalez at Newton Collins ES with her project "Snack on Some New Books"
