VIDEO & PHOTOS: 11th annual DV Fine Arts Fest a resounding success
This past Saturday, DVHS was filled with melodies, artistic visions, and grand performances during the annual DV Fine Arts Fest. Families and community members saw and heard from a variety of band, music, choir, dance, and theater groups from across the district that day, culminating in a surprise performance by Mariachi Itza from Texas Woman’s University.
Choirs and ballet folklorico groups from various elementary schools came together for a massive, memorable performance of “De Colores” and “La Vida Es Un Carnaval.” A middle school honor band made up of students from the district’s three middle schools came together to showcase their musical talents before a crowd of parents and community members while the high school ensembles performed as well.
In the Black Box Theater, theater groups from elementary and middle schools and high school performed mini-plays and practiced their improv skills before a crowd, making everyone laugh with their witty lines.
Activities lined the hallways, including pottery, painting, button-making, a silent disco, a graffiti wall, and more; there was plenty to do throughout the day. DVISD staff recognized a variety of art pieces on display, all with a unique vision and theme. Attendees also heard the district’s own teacher band, Los Maestros, perform in the hallways, playing popular songs like “La Bamba.”
“We loved the DV Fine Arts event. We loved all of the tables and the vendors that are here,” said a parent who attended the event. “We love coming to watch our students perform and supporting them; they did great. Thank you to everyone who put it together, everyone in the Fine Arts Department.”
It all made for a wonderful celebration of student art and creativity. Thank you to everyone who made the event a success!
