DVISD Leadership Announcement from the Board of Trustees

DVISD Leadership Announcement from the Board of Trustees
Christopher Weddle

It is bittersweet that we share our Acting Superintendent, Jonathan Harris, announced his retirement from Del Valle ISD after 12 years of dedicated service to our students, staff and families. While Mr. Harris was on a path to retire at the end of last school year and transition to a new career as a Mental Health Professional, he chose to continue serving the district as Acting Superintendent at the request of the Board of Trustees. We thank Mr. Harris for his unwavering support of our community and his commitment to leading the district since April.

With Mr. Harris’s departure, we are also grateful for his support of our new Acting Superintendent, Brett Springston, as he transitions to lead our district while the Board concludes its Superintendent Search process.

Mr. Springston will join us starting Monday, with a seasoned background serving Texas students as an educational leader, including Superintendent of Brownsville ISD. Since his retirement, he has effectively served multiple districts in Texas as Interim Superintendent during transition periods between Superintendents, including locally at Dripping Springs ISD.

Beyond his tenure in district leadership, Mr. Springston has served in multiple campus leadership positions at districts across Texas, including a tenure as Principal of Judson High School. He holds degrees in education from Sul Ross State University and the University of Texas at Tyler.

We are grateful for Mr. Springston’s leadership and his enthusiasm to serve the students and families of Del Valle ISD while the Board concludes its Superintendent search process.
