DV students participating in district technology internships
A group of ten Del Valle High School students are gaining work experience this summer through internships with the Del Valle ISD Technology Department. Students were selected for their skill set based on interviews with the technology team. The students will earn a paycheck from the district for their work.
The students will spend the summer working with district Campus Technology Assistants at buildings across the district. Their work during the first week of the summer session includes assisting with Chromebook updates and repairs to prepare for a new school year.
“We are excited to provide our students the opportunity to add practical technical experience to their resume, while participating in real-world work right here with the district,” said Chief Technology Officer Jeff St. Andre.
“I am doing more with Chromebooks than I thought I could do,” Juan Reyna, a rising senior, said, “I am excited to have an experience to add to my resume.”
As part of the district’s focus on supporting students to build future-ready skills, the district technology team is also working to train the students and provide access to industry certifications.
“I took this internship as a chance to learn more about technology since I’m surrounded by it,” said Mikeyla Reney, who will be a 12th grader in the fall, “It is also a way to explore a pathway that I could pursue after high school.”
The internships run Monday through Thursday from June 7 to June 24 and July 12 to July 29.
