Del Valle ISD names first Chief Student Services Officer to lead student support and success programs

The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees approved Nikki Elaine Bittings as the district’s first Chief Student Services Officer at its December 10 Board Meeting. The new position is designed to strengthen student success by leading comprehensive and aligned programs that address the academic, social, and emotional needs of DVISD students.

In her new role, Ms. Bittings will oversee key areas, including counseling, health services, social-emotional learning, mental health support, family engagement, attendance, and more. The Student Services Division ensures every student has the resources and support they need to thrive.

Ms. Bittings brings more than 20 years of educational leadership experience to DVISD, most recently serving in the same role at Seguin ISD. Her proven track record includes driving improvements in student retention and enhancing parent engagement as a dynamic and solutions-oriented leader.

“I am thrilled to welcome Nikki Elaine Bittings to Del Valle ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez, “Her deep expertise and collaborative approach will significantly benefit our students, families, and staff. I am confident that her leadership will have an immediate and positive impact on our community.”  

Ms. Bittings has a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Bachelor's Degree from Texas Lutheran University. Her career includes time as an assistant principal, principal, and deputy chief of human resources, showcasing her dedication to building innovative partnerships and fostering student success.

“I’m honored to join Del Valle ISD and look forward to working with the community to support every student’s academic journey and overall well-being,” said Ms. Bittings.

Ms. Bittings will begin her new role at Del Valle ISD on January 6, 2025.
