The Del Valle Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to name the district’s second comprehensive high school North Del Valle High School.

The board’s decision follows the work of a board-appointed naming committee, which reviewed more than 240 community nominations. The school is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in fall 2027.

“Naming a new high school is a significant milestone for our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez. “North Del Valle High School reflects our commitment to our growing community and to educational excellence. We are excited to move forward with this name and identity for our newest school.”

The district will soon launch a process to select the school’s mascot and colors. Students, families, staff, and community members will be invited to participate to help shape the campus identity.

Located in the Whisper Valley community, the 430,000-square-foot campus will offer comprehensive academic and extracurricular programs designed to prepare students for success in college, career, and beyond.
