The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees approved a 3% salary increase for teachers, staff, and some administrators at a Special Board Meeting on May 20. The raises move the district’s starting teacher salary to $59,600 per year. The minimum hourly rate for all hourly staff is now $18 per hour, an increase of $2 per hour, with all hourly pay grades receiving an equity adjustment. In addition to the salary increase, all staff will receive a one-time stipend of $1,000 for professional development, with additional stipends of $1000 for staff with 5-10 years of service in the District and $1500 for staff with more than 10 years of service in Del Valle ISD.

The salary increases will be part of a budget proposal considered by the Board at its June regular meeting.

“We are committed to offering competitive salaries for Del Valle ISD,” said Acting Superintendent Jonathan Harris, “Del Valle leads the region in teacher salaries, and this increase gives us a major recruiting tool as we search for the best candidates to join our community, to teach and support our hardworking and talented students.”

Del Valle ISD also offers employees significant stipends for hard-to-fill positions, including $7500 for Bilingual Certified Teachers and $5000 for Special Education Teachers. Other stipends include $3,000 for Secondary Science and Math Teachers.

“All of us on the Board of Trustees are committed to supporting salary increases that reflect our appreciation for our teachers and staff. This investment in our teachers and staff not only ensures that we continue to attract and retain the best talent but also underscores our unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in our students’ lives. It is this dedication that makes Del Valle ISD a wonderful place for families,” Board President Shaira Ramzanali said.

The district is hosting a job fair for all positions on June 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Del Valle Opportunity Center, located at 5301 Ross Rd., Del Valle, TX, 78617. In addition, a virtual information session for prospective employees to learn all about Del Valle ISD’s pay and benefits will be held on June 18 at 3 p.m. Details on the job fair, virtual information session, and all open positions are available online at dvisd.net/careers.
