The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees approved hiring two district leadership positions at their October 15 Regular Board Meeting. Hiring Dina Edgar as Chief Financial Officer and Danica Murillo as Chief Human Resources Officer fills two critical positions on the district’s leadership team.

Edgar joins DVISD from Bastrop ISD, where she serves in the same role as CFO. Murillo comes to the district from Seguin ISD, where she currently serves as the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer.

“We are excited for Dina Edgar and Danica Murillo to join the Del Valle ISD family. Their extensive experience and track records will prove invaluable as we collaborate with all stakeholders to advance the great work taking place in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez. “Ms. Edgar brings a range of experience managing school finance over 20 years throughout Central Texas, while Ms. Murillo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a team-oriented, data-driven leader.”

These key hires are essential to the district’s goals of fostering transparency, enhancing communication, and pursuing a collaborative approach to the success of all our staff and students.

In her new role as CFO, Ms. Edgar will be responsible for managing the district’s multi-million dollar budget. She will apply decades of analytical expertise to guide strategic financial decisions and ensure they align with the district’s goals and priorities, ultimately enhancing student achievement. Although she comes to the district from neighboring Bastrop ISD, her financial officer experience has taken her to Copperas Cove ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Galena Park ISD.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.

Ms. Murillo will step into the Chief Human Resources Officer role with proven experience in recruitment and retention and a passion for creating an inclusive environment that promotes diversity and overall employee well-being. At Seguin ISD, she developed a comprehensive employee selection process, conducted annual research on employee satisfaction, and closely monitored retention and turnover by compiling and analyzing district data. Ms. Murillo started her public education career in the classroom and as an ELAR coordinator for Northside ISD in San Antonio. In addition to being Deputy Chief of Human Resources at Seguin ISD, she previously served as the district’s Director of Professional Learning.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from St. Mary’s University, a teacher certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a master’s in Library Science from Texas Women’s University.

Both will begin in early November.
