Celebrating Our Students’ and Schools’ Success on State Assessments

Celebrating Our Students’ and Schools’ Success on State Assessments
Christopher Weddle

Dear Families,

We are excited to share exciting news about the growth our students have made on recent state assessments. This year, two-thirds of our schools achieved significant academic progress or maintained high performance across multiple grade levels and subjects. These improvements were achieved largely through efforts in the spring semester, and we are excited to see what can be accomplished with a full year under the guidance of the district’s new leadership team.

In the table below, campuses highlighted in green are those that showed noticeable improvement. In addition, two campuses maintained their high performance, earning a B in the Texas Education Agency’s ratings released today. You can also see the progress from the previous year.

Special Recognition

In addition to our higher scores, several schools earned distinctions from the state, placing them among the top-performing schools in their category.

Smith ES (5): Academic Achievement in Math, Academic Achievement in Science, Top 25% Academic Growth, Top 25% in Closing the Gaps, Post Secondary Readiness

Collins ES (2): Academic Achievement in Math, Top 25% Academic Growth

Hillcrest ES (2): Top 25% Academic Growth, Top 25% Closing the Gaps

Gilbert ES (1): Academic Achievement in Science

Hornsby-Dunlap ES (1): Academic Achievement in Science

These results reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the support of our families. Together, we’re creating classrooms where students are growing academically and gaining confidence in their abilities.

While we are proud of this progress, we know there’s still more to do. We are committed to building on these gains, improving our teaching strategies, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for being our partners in your child’s learning. We invite you to celebrate these accomplishments with us and to continue encouraging your child’s journey toward success.

With appreciation,

Dr. Matthew Gutierrez
