Action Items
Meeting for possible adoption of 2025-2026 budget and tax rate
A meeting of the Board of Trustees is called for 6:15 PM on June 17, 2025, at the Edward A Neal Administration Center Board Room for the purpose of discussion and possible adoption of the 2025/2026 budget and tax rate.
Low Attendance Waivers
The Board of Trustees approved Low Attendance Waivers.
Due to low attendance on Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19 we are requesting a low-attendance waiver for Del Valle High School, Opportunity Center, Del Valle Middle School and Daily Middle School resulting from the threat of unsafe conditions. We are also requesting a district-wide low-attendance waiver for Monday, February 2 as a result of the threat of unsafe conditions for students at the time.
The low-attendance waiver per the student attendance accounting handbook, section 3.8.1.4, allows the district to request that an instructional day with attendance at least ten (10) percentage points below the last school year’s attendance due to inclement weather, health, safety-related, or other issues be excused from average daily attendance calculations for the current school year. Approval of this waiver will result in an increase to the district’s average daily attendance, which will result in a minor increase in state funding.
Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) Cycle 3
The Board of Trustees approved LASO Cycle 3.
Del Valle Independent School District (DVISD) was recently awarded the LASO 3 grant to support two key initiatives: the Strong Foundations Planning (SFP) program and the Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (APCSP) course.
Strong Foundations Planning (SFP) provides direct funding to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) for technical assistance in developing a robust instructional framework for mathematics. This framework is grounded in research-based instructional strategies (RBIS) designed to guide effective teaching and learning across the district.
Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (APCSP) is a college-level introductory course that exposes students to the foundational concepts of computer science. The course encourages students to explore a wide range of computing topics and to consider the broader impact of technology on society.
In addition to these initiatives, DVISD received a $350,000 grant to implement Bluebonnet Learning instructional materials for secondary math. These materials will be used in alignment with program guidelines at eligible Title I campuses that are federally designated for school improvement. The participating campuses include Del Valle Middle School, Ojeda Middle School, and Dailey Middle School.
Communities in Schools Partnership
The Board of Trustees approved Communities in Schools Partnership.
Communities In Schools (CIS) has been providing student support services across the country since 1977 and currently serves nearly 3,500 schools nationwide. Locally, CIS operates in approximately 100 schools across districts such as Austin ISD, Hays CISD, Manor ISD, Elgin ISD, Lockhart ISD, and Taylor ISD. The organization brings a strong track record of integrated student support focused on improving attendance, academic performance, and social-emotional well-being.
To enhance and streamline student support services with reduced funding, the Administration recommends transitioning from the district’s current social work support model to a partnership with Communities In Schools. This transition is designed to ensure continuity of care and expand capacity to meet student needs effectively.
Del Valle Elementary Performance Agreement
The Board of Trustees approved Del Valle Elementary Performance Agreement.
Del Valle Elementary applied and was awarded the LASO grant with over $680,000 for school redesigning to improve the school rating and function as a STEM campus.
This is a three-year grant:
Year 1 = 2024 - 2025 - Planning year
Year 2 = 2025 - 2026 - Planning year extension
Year 3 = 2026 - 2027 - Year 1 implementation
A performance agreement must be approved by the Board and signed by the school principal prior to the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.
