Action Items

Tennis Court Resurfacing

The Board of Trustees approved Tennis Court Resurfacing.

The tennis courts at Del Valle High School have significant weather-related wear. The courts show visible cracks, surface separation, and water damage, which not only prevent competitive play but also pose potential safety risks for student-athletes.

The scope of work includes the resurfacing of ten tennis courts, encompassing:

  • Surface preparation (cleaning, grinding, and patching of cracks)
  • Application of acrylic resurfacing and color coating
  • Line striping
  • Installation of new tennis net posts (reusing existing footings)

The estimated cost for this project is $110,000, with an additional 10% contingency allowance to cover any unforeseen conditions due to the age and deterioration of the courts.

Student Outcome Goal Progress Measures

The Board of Trustees has approved new Student Outcome Goal Progress Measures—specific ways to track how well our students are learning and growing over time.

These measures are directly tied to the Board’s long-term Student Outcome Goals and help ensure the district stays focused on improving student achievement, growth, and readiness for college, career, and life after graduation.

Each progress measure provides a clear, measurable target for each year so that everyone—students, families, teachers, and the community—can see how we’re moving toward our goals.

Our Goals for Student Success:

  • Early Literacy: Increase the percentage of 3rd grade students reading on or above grade level from 32% in 2025 to 60% by 2030.
  • Early Mathematics: Increase the percentage of 3rd grade students meeting or exceeding grade level in math from 27% in 2025 to 60% by 2030.
  • Middle School Math: Increase the percentage of 7th grade students meeting or exceeding grade level in math from 6% in 2025 to 40% by 2030.
  • College, Career, and Military Readiness: Increase the percentage of graduates who are college, career, or military ready from 68% in 2025 to 90% by 2030.

These goals reflect our shared belief that every student can succeed—and that by working together, we can make sure all students are prepared for the future.

Lone Star Governance Board and Superintendent Guardrails

The Board of Trustees has approved a Community Engagement Process to gather feedback on the Lone Star Governance (LSG) Board and Superintendent Guardrails.

As part of the LSG framework, these Guardrails help ensure that every decision we make stays focused on improving student outcomes and reflects the values of our community.

  • Board Guardrails outline the Board’s key commitments and boundaries in governing the district.
  • Superintendent Guardrails define the parameters that guide the Superintendent’s decisions and leadership actions.

Together, these Guardrails help maintain a shared focus on student success and accountability at every level.

We invite you to share your feedback as part of this process—your voice helps shape how we lead and serve our students. Look for opportunities to participate soon!

Technology Department Vendor Spending Threshold Update

The Board of Trustees has approved an update related to technology purchasing.

To save the district nearly $98,000, Del Valle ISD will begin purchasing student Chromebooks and repair supplies from AGParts Worldwide, Inc. instead of GTS Technologies. This change allows us to provide the same high-quality devices for students at a much lower cost.

Because of this shift, the Technology Department’s total purchases from AGParts Worldwide, Inc. will exceed the district’s $50,000 annual spending threshold for vendors in the 2025–2026 fiscal year. All purchases are made through the TIPS 220105 contract and support our 1:1 student device program and ongoing technology repair efforts.

The total spending with AGParts Worldwide, Inc. is $57,720.00, broken down by the following purchase orders:

● $10,412.50 for keyboard and palmrest parts for device repair.

● $16,250.00 for 250 student Chromebooks for district-wide use.

● $2,587.50 for device repair parts, including keyboards, bottom cases, and cameras.

● $8,970.00 for 600 student Chromebook chargers.

● $19,500.00 for 300 student Chromebooks

Job Order Contract for Trade Services

The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees has approved a Job Order Contract (JOC) that will make it easier and faster for the district to take care of campus repairs and improvements.

This new contract covers a wide range of work — from landscaping, playgrounds, and fencing to roofing, plumbing, and electrical projects. By having a group of approved vendors ready to go, the district can respond quickly to maintenance and construction needs without having to start a new bid process each time.

Fifteen companies submitted proposals, and several were approved to help keep our schools safe, welcoming, and well maintained.

This proactive approach helps ensure our students and staff continue to learn and work in high-quality facilities across Del Valle ISD.
