Transportation Welcome Letter

Dear Del Valle ISD families,

As we start the new school year, the DVISD Transportation Department looks forward to welcoming students on board district buses. If your child is a bus rider at DVISD, please read the following information about our transportation services for the 2023-2024 School Year.

In order for a student to ride a bus the student must be registered for school and provide a current address in the Del Valle ISD boundaries.

Through the SmartTag App you can find your child’s bus stop, route number, and estimated time of arrival in the neighborhood.

Returning students must confirm their registration and address - visit

New students must complete their registration process - visit

Bus routes for 2023-2024 School Year

Bus route information will be sent out by text message to families on Friday, August 4. All students who are eligible to ride the bus will receive a bus route. The text message will include route number, stop location, pickup and drop off times. At the beginning of the school year, the Transportation Department reviews routes daily, adjusting routes as new students enroll. Affected families will receive a text message with the updated route information, anytime a route is adjusted.

We anticipate that many buses will be at or near capacity this year. Students will be asked to sit 2 or 3 students per seat. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Smart Tag

All students riding a bus will receive a SmartTag ID which they will use to scan when they get on and off the bus. This system provides the district and parents with real-time information about bus locations. In addition, it provides drivers with information to ensure students are on the correct bus and get off at the correct stop.

The SmartTag Parent Portal offers alerts with messages when your child is approximately 10-15 minutes from their stop and a location map allowing parents to view a map showing their child's bus while their child is on board.

To login to the Parent Portal, please visit

Bus delays

While the DVISD Transportation Department works extremely hard to ensure all students arrive home on time, there may be times when traffic, weather, or other instances outside of the district’s control cause delays. Using SmartTag the district will notify families of significant bus delays.

Thank you for trusting us to safely transport your child to and from school. Our drivers are ready to be the first smiling face that greets your child each day. We are excited to see you soon!
