Austin Public Library Student Card Accounts

If you were new to DVISD for the 2022-2023 school year, we delivered paper cards to your school in October 2022 and sent an email with your Library Account number to your DVISD email and your parent/guardian’s email. 

All students who were enrolled in DVISD before this year should have received their paper card in previous years. We sent emails to students and parents/guardians in October 2022 reminding you of your card number. Even without a paper card, you can still access all APL resources using your Student Library Account number.

If you are uncertain whether you have an account or want to know your Library Account number, email lib.studentcards@austintexas.gov or call Austin Public Library’s Customer Service at 512-974-7475.

You may continue to use your APL Child/Teen Card in addition to your Student Library Account.

Students can check out a maximum of 50 items at one time. Find information about loan periods and due dates here.

Receiving a Student Library Account is 100% free. Austin Public Library is also fine free. There are no fines if you renew or return something late. If an item is lost or damaged, then the parent/guardian will be held financially responsible for the lost or damaged fee. 

Yes! Visit the circulation desk at any branch with your school ID or type in your Student Library Account number at one of our self-checkout kiosks.

As long as you have never logged in and changed it, your password is DVISD123. If you need help with your password, contact APL Customer Service at 512-974-7475.

1. Log on to library.austintexas.gov
2. Select “My Account”
3. Enter your Library account number with the DVISD prefix
4. Enter your default password DVISD123. You may change your password at any time in "My Settings"
5. Select a user name. You’re ready to use the ONLINE Library!
