2014 Projects
The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees called a bond election to be held November 4, 2014. Voters passed the $134.04 million bond proposition for District-wide projects including facility additions or renovations, technology and transportation upgrades, and additional land acquisition for future schools.
Bond projects include:
- Elementary #9 (Newton Collins Elementary School) and funds for Elementary #10
- Buses to replace current fleet
- Technology infrastructure and devices
- Renovations to existing campuses
- Career and Technology education facility at Del Valle High School
- Fine Arts Facility at Del Valle High School
- Field House, concessions, and restrooms for Veterans Memorial Football Field at Del Valle High School
- Covered multi-purpose activity center at Del Valle High School
- Additional gym and renovations to Del Valle High School
- Funds for additional school sites
Del Valle High School Career and Technical Education Facility
Pfluger Architects worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 64,000 square foot facility, located at the high school. This new 2-story facility includes classrooms, lab spaces and teacher work space. This facility is designed to be flexible in order to change with the districts needs based on student interest and the local area job market.
Del Valle High School Gymnasium Addition
Pfluger Architects worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 13,000 square foot addition. This addition to the High School includes a practice gymnasium and storage associated with the gym.
Del Valle High School Fine Arts Addition
Pfluger Architects worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 19,000 square foot addition. This addition to the High School includes a Dance Studio, Dance locker rooms, Dance storage, Band Rehearsal Room, Band storage and a shared Dance/Band Rehearsal Space.
Del Valle High School Athletic Facility
Stantec Architecture worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 115,500 square foot facility, located at the high school. This new facility includes a two story 58,469 square foot field house with visitor concessions and restroom facilities, an 53,500 indoor practice facility that includes an 80 yard field and a 3,540 square foot building that houses the home concession and restroom facilities.
Newton Collins Elementary School (ES#9)
O’Connell Robertson worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 99,000 square foot elementary school. This new elementary school is located in the Easton Park Development and is scheduled to open for the 2017-2018 school year.
Administration Building Data Center Additions & Renovations
Fuse Architecture Studio worked with administrators, end users, construction and planning department, and the public to design the 23,000 square foot addition to the Administration Building. This addition includes a new data center, new technology department offices and additional open office space.
Stantec Architecture was hired in 2012 to do a facility assessment of our district. After the assessment was completed, each item was rated based on safety, security, educational adequacy, building systems and components, and site. The renovation projects were selected based on this rating system and the allotted bond budget.
Fuse Architecture Studio has been hired to design the selected renovation projects. These renovations will affect 10 campuses over the next couple of years. Some of the renovations to be completed are lighting upgrades, restroom upgrades, new sidewalks and ADA cabinet/sink replacement.
