Prop A
Del Valle ISD is facing a $10 million budget deficit.
Contributors to the Del Valle ISD budget deficit include:
- Years of inflation
- Underfunded mandates
- Over the last 5 years, costs increased nearly 20% due to inflation.
- The state increased funding by less than 1%.
- Diminishing returns on our Chapter 313 agreement and other alternate funding source
The district has made budget cuts where it can, but 89.3% of the budget is earmarked for salaries of teachers and support staff, and without a rate increase, additional cuts will need to be made.
About Proposition A
Proposition A provides $13.9 million of new funding in the current fiscal year and is expected to provide at least as much each year thereafter to support the district’s maintenance and operations (M&O) budget to:
- Increase teacher & staff pay
- Maintain current programming
- Cover the expense of opening North Del Valle High School in 2028
Prop A includes funds designated for staff salary adjustments and impacts every student and campus in Del Valle ISD.
