Students at Del Valle Elementary are getting a boost to their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) lessons with two grants from the Educational Alliance. The Alliance is a national program offered by Exxon Mobil. The grants help provide students tools to create real world connections with what they learn in the classroom. To receive the grant, a school must be nominated by a local Exxon Mobil gas station. The locations near COTA and the airport nominated DVE.
“It’s a great partnership with our community businesses to provide math and science resources to the students of Del Valle,” J.Maines said, DVE Principal. “Together we can build future scientists.”
DVE received $500 to be applied to the subject of math and $500 for science. The grants will be used to purchase materials for student experiments as well as assist with STEAM night, an interactive event where scientists demonstrate experiments to engage with students.
