Student groups from Del Valle High School hosted an evening of sharing information, recruitment for the organizations, and celebration during a Drive-Thru Pep Rally on Thursday. The groups. under guidance from teachers Eleyna Ogg and Eric Cavalli, put together a socially distanced event with tables spread across the campus parking lot.

A steady line of attendees remained in their cars while driving past each group’s table. The event featured 16 organizations that provided attendees with information and a few goodie bags. The groups used QR codes to relay information to the cars to maintain social distancing.

“It was amazing to see all the students that came out to safely represent their clubs for the drive-thru pep rally,” Eric Cavalli said, “The amount of spirit and enthusiasm made the event a huge success and felt especially impactful during these difficult times.”

Participating groups were: AFJROTC, Baseball, Choir, Golf, Powerlifting, Red Cross Club, Special Olympics, STUCO, Tennis, Track, Women’s Empowerment Club, Mental Health Awareness Club, Subs, LEAD Science Fair, Boys & Girls Club, and the College & Career Center.

“It was a very uplifting event and everyone was in great spirits,” Eleyna Ogg shared. “We had community members come to show their support for our students.”
