A group of ten Del Valle ISD Construction Management students received Chromebooks through a COVID-19 Relief Grant in collaboration with the University of Texas Division of Diversity and Community Engagement department, El Concilio de East Austin, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), and the Ford Driving Dreams Program.

Members of the organizations greeted students, their families, and teacher Mary Mendietta during an outdoor and socially-distanced event at Fiesta Gardens. The organizations selected each student because of their participation as youth members of LULAC and enrollment in one of three Construction Management courses offered at DVHS.

“Mary strives to find rewarding opportunities for our students inside and outside of the classroom,” Norris Sebastian, DVISD Director of CTE, said of Ms. Mendietta, “These Chromebooks will assist each of these students, and their families, for years to come.”
