The special education leadership team participated in the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) 2020 Interactive Conference. The conference was presented over two- and one-half days via a virtual platform and provided a variety of learning opportunities for our leadership team. The focus of the conference was helping special education departments navigate this unprecedented time. The team was able to watch presentations by TEA Commissioner Mike Morath and State Director of Special Education Justin Porter.
The conference included break out sessions covering topics like Child Find and Evaluations During and After COVID-19, Creating Accessibility, Opportunity, and Engagement online, and Staffing Models: CaseLoad Analysis Versus Workload Analysis. The conference concluded with a panel discussion covering funding and financial support during COVID-19 and updates on financial laws and tax codes. The DVISD SPED leadership team will utilize all of the information learned at the conference to prepare for the upcoming academic school year and beyond.
Cole Davis, DVISD Assessment and Compliance Coordinator stated, “This year’s convention was very helpful in being able to talk to others and hear relevant information about dealing with education in the time of COVID-19.”
