The Assistance League of Austin (ALA) Operation School Bell (OSB) Steering Committee voted and approved to include the Del Valle ISD Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) with a Uniform Closet.

The Uniform Closet supports the DAEP by providing Middle and High School students with the necessary dress code clothing. The clothing is available to all students as needed to comply with the dress code requirement. Students are provided the required clothing to improve attendance and motivate student success.

“The Assistance League® of Austin and DVISD share in the mission to serve our community.  ALA continues to serve DVISD by providing qualified students with school clothing through Operation School Bell and Teen Outfitters Project (TOP),” said ALA VP Philanthropic Programs, Nancy Molbert. “To further this endeavor, ALA is assisting DVISD DAEP with uniform clothing for their students.  The intent of ALA providing uniform clothing to DAEP students is to sustain their school attendance.”

“I am thankful for the relationship and collaboration we have established with the Assistance League of Austin,” said Aide Sustaita, Parent Community Liaison at DAEP, “We are ecstatic that we have the support of an all-volunteer organization that believes in our program.”

The Assistance League purchases clothing at wholesale prices with funds raised by the group’s Thrift House, grants, and donations. Volunteers from the Assistance League order and pack the clothes and a volunteer liaison works with school personnel to set up and maintain the closet. At DAEP, ALA volunteer Pat Reid works with Aide Sustaita and Melanie Beran to set up and maintain the closet.
