Eleven visual art teachers from Del Valle ISD (DVISD) have original works of art featured at the Mix ‘n’ Mash: Cosmología group exhibition at The Mexic-arte Museum. The exhibition, Cosmología, showcases art focused on the science of the origin and development of the universe.

“This was a great opportunity for our visual art teachers to challenge themselves to create and show original works of art.” said Del Valle High School art teacher Beranger LeFranc. Additionally, LeFranc serves as the Secondary Art Liaison for the District and noted, “It is valuable for our students and colleagues to see we are not only art teachers but also working, professional artists who have their work featured in Austin.”

The featured artists represent seven campuses: Beranger LeFranc, Katy Potts, Reagan Smith, Ignacio Luera & Paige Ashley from Del Valle High School; Sequoyah Johnson from Ojeda Middle School; Marlee Westmoreland from Dailey Middle School; Allison Nix from Popham Elementary School; Angie Rodgers from Del Valle Elementary School; Chelsea Freestone from Creedmoor Elementary School; and Megan Adams from Hornsby-Bend Elementary School.

The exhibition opened on December 13, 2019 and will continue through February 9, 2020. Visitors are welcome to view the artwork during regular museum hours which can be found on the Mexic-Arte Museum website. All proceeds from the exhibit will support the Museum’s exhibition programming for children and adults.
