The Popham Elementary School community came together for their annual Veterans Day program on November 11. The Popham Choir, under the direction of Jediah Gonzalez, honored veterans by performing “Veterans Thank You,” an original composition written by Ms. Gonzalez. She composed the song four years ago as a tribute to all the brave men and women who have served and are currently serving in all branches of the military.
Each year on Veterans Day, military families join the students at Popham to be recognized for their service and enjoy breakfast with staff in addition to the choir performance.
The choir will perform again at a special dinner honoring World War II veterans and students who recently participated in Operation Soaring Valor before the School Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 12.
“It is important for our students to honor the courageous men and women who serve and defend our nation’s freedom,” said Popham Principal Jennifer Spears, “It was a proud moment to see Ms. Gonzalez lead our choir in harmony to honor our Veterans.”
