On Tuesday, June 16, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution to appoint the District Advisory Team as a District of Innovation Committee. The Committee met on June 18th to discuss and approve a proposal for a new academic plan starting with the 2020-2021 school year. The DAT’s proposed recommendation can be located here. Per Texas Education Code, the Board of Trustees may not vote on adoption of a proposed local innovation plan unless the final version of the proposed plan has been available on the district’s website for at least 30 days. The Board of Trustees will vote on the academic plan and new district calendar at the July 21 meeting. If the Board of Trustees approves the calendar at the July 21 meeting, the new school year would start one week early, on Monday, August 17.
