On Monday, February 17, Del Valle ISD (DVISD) campus teachers, instructional aides and administrators participated in a staff-led professional development mini-conference at Del Valle High School from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The purpose of the conference is to showcase the best ideas and instructional practices that are currently being implemented by DVISD teachers. Campus staff was provided an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues throughout the district on instructional practices that have proven to be successful with Del Valle ISD students.

“Every year we get feedback from teachers about the great things their peers are doing in the classroom and with students.  This is that special place where we get to showcase it for all to see,” said Del Valle ISD Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction Sonja Howard. “We have something for everyone from every area of our district COMPASS but also include special topics such as mindfulness for teachers, playwriting in Theater and English Language Arts and other creative topics.”

The conference, arranged by strands, aligned with the District’s professional learning COMPASS: Aligned Curriculum, Aligned Behavior, Aligned Literacy, and SPED/ELL’s/GT Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices. The professional development sessions allowed DVISD staff to “learn, share, and connect” in areas of most interest and need.
