At the November 12th Board meeting, the district recognized employees who served in the U.S. armed forces.  They were introduced by Army veteran Trustee Darla Wegner, “To our district employees who answered the call to serve this country, thank you for continuing your public service by providing the very best education to our students.” Also recognized at the Board meeting were WWII veterans who accompanied high school students on the Soaring Valor trip in September.

In attendance at the meeting were (l to r) Janet DeWitt, from Collins Elementary, Air Force Veteran; Michael Kinslow, from Del Valle High School, Colonel (Retired), Air Force veteran; Christine Heath, from the Special Education Department, Air Force veteran; Martin Leal, from Del Valle Elementary, Army veteran; David Campbell from Central Admin, Army veteran. Joining them in the photo is Interim Superintendent Dr. Annette Tielle Villerot, Army veteran Trustee Darla Wegner, Air Force veteran Trustee Charlie Diggs and Board President Rebecca Birch.

“I was happy that all branches were recognized and in awe to be in company with WWII veterans,” said honoree Christine Heath.

“The whole ceremony was very touching. It is fantastic to be in a profession and district that honors the service of all kinds,” said David Campbell.
