Dr. Stefan Schlüter, a former German diplomat, and current Program Director at the German Foreign Office’s Diplomatic Academy in Berlin visited students in Del Valle High School’s Foreign Diplomacy Class.

His visit was part of a pilot program with Dell Computer Company of Austin, the World Affairs Council of Austin, and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. DVHS applied for a grant through the Holocaust Commission of Texas for Holocaust studies, which presented the opportunity to bring Dr. Schluter to school so students could hear first-hand information about Germany. He also shared what it was like to live during the Third Reich.

“Genocide education is something that is serious and can change our society. Just this week the Congress passed the first Armenian Genocide Resolution in 100 years,” said Mike Cunningham.
