Dailey Middle School students started a community garden on Saturday, March 24, with the support of the Dailey Middle School principal, teachers, students, parents and staff.
Green Corn Project, an educational partner, and others donated over $200 of supplies that included compost, seeds, plants and gardening tools to help launch the community garden.
The community garden is a service-learning project that gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of horticulture.
“We are very proud to spread the wealth of gardening to the Hornsby Bend community,” said Parent Community Liaison Patricia Taylor. “The garden teaches students life lessons about how to give back to others.”
The Dailey community garden is an ongoing project that will be maintained by the students.
