Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary School celebrated its 50th year on Thursday, Oct. 5, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the campus parking lot with current students, alumni, community members, faculty, staff and Del Valle ISD administrators.

The event began with the singing of the national anthem and a performance of “God Bless America” by the Hornsby elementary choir. The 50th Legacy Celebration featured alumni guest speakers Ms. Kathy Edgar, Ms. Leah Mercer and Mr. Steven Alves. Opening and closing remarks were by Hornsby Principal Marisol Rocha.

“I am proud to be in a school and a district where 50 years of excellence in education is in the forefront of everyone’s agenda,” Principal Rocha said. “Everyone in attendance was inspired by the speeches given by our alumni members.”

The event had live music, cake, refreshments, photo op and concluded with an aerial shot of students, faculty and staff.
